Searchlights and skilled lookouts obviously work well for sanma fishing
Recon floatplanes (Zuiun, Type 0 Recon), Type 2 Taitei-chan, Ka-type observation autogyro, and other such planes
can effectively find fish in the same way as the Type 3 and ASDIC series active sonars
