There's still managers, talent agencies, exclusive promotion deals, venues exclusive deals etc plus the bonus of Japanese BS, where you're guaranteed to severely butthurt someone somewhere in a system, organization, corporation or hierarchy with every breath you take regardless, in play here so I' betting their hands are tied by a combination of these things.

Japan is suppressive AF at every turn and point and they keep on perfecting the crank to the point that creativity and innovation is all but dead. Only by a miracle (and oversight) something good actually comes out of there today.

I think most grads (like Shirai pointed out) will just come to the conclusion that finishing university and marrying a middle/upper management drone with a (increasingly scarce) full-time employment is the only chance at a semblance of comfort that realistically is in reach.

On the bright side they get live out and stimulate the idol/model/acting dream in SG with fans cheering them on and due to their age they're somewhat protected by law from the full nastiness of Japanese showbiz, and hopefully by the time they graduate they've got their fill and/or got wise enough to start prepping them self further up for a better and higher quality selection in marrying partners.

It's also part of that hierarchy system they insist on having that makes it impossible to install actually capable people with the right merits in the right positions in your company/organization.

The way they run things is incredibly inefficient and completely tone deaf to what the market needs/wants and potential helpful input from creatives and talents because they're "kohei" and must stfu at all times.

Worst part of this is that they're all aware of exactly what the problem is and that it's losing them profits, so instead of correcting the issue they just don't spend a lot of money on project's anymore and rather make a lot of small budget/scope products for a niche market and sell them with a high markup while sweatshoping their employees under slave contracts.

This is why basically everything coming out of Japan the last 20 years is shit and has a cheap feel to it despite costing a lot for very little content per-purchase.
