Yeah that was in the days before she had monster hunter. She was addicted to pachinko gaming. Ironically, after her husband banned her from video games, they were seen playing pachinko together. she's just traded one vice for another. At least she didn't get into drugs or alcohol. After reading her interview I get the feeling that she's had to deal with a ton of stress over the years and just her relatively short time in morning musume and being in showbiz life really grinded her down at times. She's done more during her time as a singer then many normal people do in an entire whole career.
No surprise that many of the ex members turned to some questionable means of stress control.

Maki still doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks about her. That's why she's cool. She's a little yanki.
