The cherry payouts in PCB Phantasm's first half of the stage feel really inconsistent. I feel like I can get radically different amounts (think differences of 5,000 or more up to the point I care about) when I seem to hit the same number of fairies. Whether I'm focused or unfocused when killing certain enemies would solve for one or two thousand points appearing and disappearing, I don't know where the hell the rest is coming from. Maybe it's due to when I go over PoC and grab enough points to hit max power, or something, but it's aggravating me. Even though I'm not playing for score and this doesn't affect my Cherry+ at all compared to my normal run of grabbing all the Cherry I can (meaning it doesn't affect when I get my borders starting from the Ran fight, therefore not impacting survival), I noticed that entering the part of the stage where the fairies start firing waves of bullets at you in groups of four with ~47500 cherry will put you in a sweet spot, where you'll enter a border early enough that you can pick up all the point items being dropped before they touch you, but also stay in the border long enough to graze all the bullets aimed at you right before Ran shows up and get the additional Cherrymax. I can't seem to consistently hit this sweet spot, though, I'll either get too much cherry too early and enter the border too soon, or I'll skip too much cherry and will be unable to enter the border when I need to without trying to cross the PoC, which fucks up my strategy for surviving those waves and means I'll probably get hit and lose that border immediately.

I know I really should just focus on survival, but goddamnit the fact that this route optimization is so simple and doesn't require me to make any major changes to my routing (just make sure not to kill a few of the enemies that only drop power or cherry) tantalizes me and makes me want to go the extra mile.
