I don't know why anyone would want a pity mechanic, why is being pitied even a good thing.

Guarantees just reinforces the “pay to win” notion where the big spenders can get all the gacha characters quite easily, simply by throwing money. It would get to the point where people are merely buying characters instead of leaving it to chance. Without it, the playing field is much more level because all players roll equally and are at the mercy of their own luck. Yes, the people who spend more will still have more rolls and chances, but there’s nothing anyone can or should do about that.

Furthermore, guarantees ruins the PURITY of them game. You lose the gambling aspect of gacha; the joy of rolling what you're aiming for despite the stacked odds is ultimately lost. This high is a crucial aspect of gacha and an integral part of these games. The prospect for failure is absolutely necessary for a game otherwise it would just be a simulation where you are just going through the motions with no deviations.

Not only do players lose out, but the developers lose as well. Since a guarantee mechanic ultimately caps the amount of currency spent during every banner. Sure, the floor revenue might be raised slightly by implementing guarantees, but creating a cap is completely nonsensical for a company. Companies would have to reevaluate other means to raise revenue to compensate, typically an unpopular move that affects all players. Currency is meant to be spent and barriers to do so hurts us all.

Guarantee mechanics hurts us all.
