Again, in a flurry the cups moved, and the vampire watched, until all three were placed before her.
“That one.” She said, pointing to the center cup.
Revealing it, Goro showed two candies. For a moment, the vampire smiled sure in her victory, before Goro lifted the left and right cups to reveal two small mounds of treats. The vampire’s face sullied.
“Congrats Flan-chan!” he said.
Meekly, the vampire grabbed the two candies and pocketed them, and enviously eyed the two piles. Dark, red energy began to pour out of her being.
“Best two out of three.” She said, rising into the air.
Oh no.
“You both got to pick a game, so now it’s my turn! Winner gets all the candies! It’s time for Danmaku!”
Goro and I readied ourselves once again.

“Hehehe.” The Vampire snickered holding her small sack of treats. “Thanks for the candies mister Goro, I haven’t tasted anything like these before!”

“Your welcome.” Goro groaned.
Both him and I were laid back in the grass, battered and beaten, staring up at the stars with the vampiric brat in between us, munching on candies. I guess I should be thankful we’re not dead.
“Hey, I wanted to ask something. Is Yukari evil?” The vampire said.
“Oh yea, She’s super bad news. Haunty and a spoilsport you know?” I cough. “She’s probably up to some sick act as we speak toying with some people like it’s her job.”
“Is being evil bad though?” She asked.
Ugh, I hated explaining things to kids. They always asked stupid questions expecting adults to give consistent answers. I guess star gazing while punch drunk was the right mood for philosophical discussion though.
“’Evil’ is just a word people use for things a lot of people dislike. It doesn’t really mean anything, just superficial nonsense that holds everyone back. Try holding on to one definition of it for a hundred years and it’ll change before you can blink.” I told her.
“But everyone seems to hate Yukari as long as Flan can remember. I don’t understand why, she’s always nice to me after all.”
“She toys with people you know. Like the opposite of playing where she’s the only one who gets to have fun, although she is consistent, I’ll give her that.” I added.
“So, it would be better if she wasn’t around? Would everyone be able to have more fun playing?” Flan asked.
“Ehh, if she wasn’t around there’s a couple people like her who’ll just take up the throne.” I told her, scratching my head.
“Sometimes…” Flan began, clutching her knees “…I just want to make all the troublesome people disappear.”
“Flan…” Goro began.
Oh great, time for some proper children’s education on why murder won’t solve all your problems.
“I feel the same way.” He spoke.
Flan and I both looked at him in surprise.
“If I had your ability, I probably would take care of all the bad people.” He said, turning over in the grass.
“After all, I’ve spent a lot of time talking with people and learning who they are. No good villains who take the fun out of everything even for themselves. They can only ever ruin things. If I told you who those people were, would you get rid of them for me? So, everyone else can have more fun?” He asked.
“I, I don’t know.” Flan replied.
Goro sighed. “That’s right, because everyone’s another toy in the chest and there’s no way less toys would be more fun.”
For awhile we all sat there, taking in the night air, thinking about toys and genocide all the while.
“Well Flan’s had her fun. Time for bed” She said, yawning.
“Goodnight mister Goro.” She said pecking him on the cheek. “Goodnight, Missus Goro” and a peck for me as well.
Wait a second.
“Make sure you bring more candy next time!” She commanded, flying off.
“Well, I guess we survived.” Goro shrugged. “That ‘play session’ felt like a hazing ritual.”
“It’s just that Hag’s way of threatening us with the big guns, but as expected, she can’t really rely on anyone but herself to do the browbeating. You don’t trust her do you?” I asked.
Goro wheezed “Trust Yukari? Ha! No, she’s probably already thought of a way to screw us. I like Flan a lot more even if playing with her is like walking a tightrope, such a cute kid.”
He looked a little wistful and I had a sinking feeling in my stomach that he’d be asking for something after this whole mess was over. Which reminded me…
“Hey what did you whisper to that wretched woman?” I said, sitting next to him all lady-like.
He leaned his head on my shoulder. “That I wanted to monopolize your skinship.”

Alright, cute bit over, now brace for super suffering.
