Strong notes of licorice in all cases that count, as is natural. The degrees of psycho-activity, sweetness, numbness, and bitterness depend on the recipe and proportion of wormwood etc. Made my own once upon a time. Pernod's recipe was the best post-distillation. Twas a dizzying drink at normal levels of consumption, with strong salvation and gastric stimulation -- of the pleasant sort, not the purgative kind.
