Well Sakura is her protege number 1, with Nako being her protege number 2.
She left behind a legacy, but also passed the torch onto Sakura who was getting ready to pass said torch onto Nako before produce 48.
Sasshi got sent to HKT to die and she decided she wasn't going out sad and spat in the face of those who doubted her.

Sakura has a similar story to Sasshi but Sakura didn't meet the highs that Sasshi did because Sasshi was still active during the time when she was mentoring Sakura and J*rina did her dark magic and unfairly won a senbatsu that should've went to either Sakura or Akari.

Some people could say that Sakura failed Sasshi, but I'd say Sakura did very well. Sakura is the embodiment of Sasshi's statement that you don't need to know how to sing or dance to be a popular idol.
