One time I asked him to actually go ahead and delete /jp/. To do as he said in >>1 and simply get rid of it as it was a hassle to moderate.

He was strongly against. I actually had never seen him so opposed to anything since he's actually pretty easy going most of the time. No way, not as long as there were thousands of people enjoying it. Which I think revealed to me why 4chan will stay around as long as he's capable: He's unable to remove the place that makes the day of so many people. The idea that millions of users will suddenly have to abandon the imageboard and look for a new place in a web that is increasingly about identity and marketing is repugnant and so we get to yell at each other for another day even if we are a mess to handle or burning through server money.

He never speaks ill of any board by the way. He just recognizes people having fun, or enjoying things that can't be found in other places and that makes him happy.

Anyway, that's why 4chan will never die as long as there people interested in it.
