Not really. The inability of the IJN to come up with a battle tactic that involved their carriers and battleships working together, coupled with Kaga being a poor mans carrier was an awful combination. A fleet can only move as fast as it's slowest ship and Kaga was a fucking anchor weighing the fleet down down.
At least the conversion freed up turrets for better ships to use instead. Kongou and Nagato are the same size so I wonder if Hiraga could have redesigned her to hold the new 41cm turrets.

No, when you marry them both as you should that makes it a marriage triangle. Nagato is married to you whose married to Mutsu, who is in turn married to Nagato.
