ZUN is a magician who somehow makes backgrounds look really cool with small filesize images. I guess it must just be part of unextractable (or at least hard to extract) game code.

Let us attempt to solve the great mystery of our time: why is there an image of a cat's face here?

Is it somehow a reflection of Okuu's psyhe, indicating her somewhat scatter-brained nature? Is her affection for cute things, cats, and cute cats like Orin so great that Okuu engraves them onto her spellcards?
