So, anything interesting happen in Japan lately?

Job market sucks. I have a BS in English, and am considering teaching abroad.

I have a skull tattoo on my upper arm, would that be a problem in Japan/Korea?

Simple question, /jp/: What jobs can I get if I've studied Japanese in college?
I'm a foreign language major and in addition to Japanese, I'm taking Chinese and Russian, although I've studied them less.

I know there's teaching English, but the idea doesn't thrill me. Or being a translator, but for who I wouldn't know.
I've been told a lot that I can easily get a job for the government.

So yeah, some help would be appreciated.

You guys don't even discuss Japan in here!!

So I have the opportunity to go to Japan on foreign exchange, but the only problem is...I have to pay $4,700... I'm 18 and can't drink (which, from how it's been explained to be is a big part of Japanese culture)...would it even be worth going now? Or should I wait until later in college when the economy will be more stable and I can further experience the culture?

so, this summer I'll be going to Japan for some classes and stuff
I think I got it mostly sorted out.
But for electronics, what do I need to do? Do I need a power converter? Pretty much the only things I think I'd take would be AA battery recharger (for my camera) and my DS.
Also what if I bought something there and bring it back? I'm from the US, by the way.

Aside from that, what else should I know?

i have a little history question:
When did Japanese people start to regard themselves as "Japanese" as in a state based on nationality. I'm kinda lost between two versions: 1. in the medieval times when one single clan/shogunate started ruling over the country and 2. in the XIX century when the other nationality-based states were created..

today, i was talking to some people at school, and since this is our last semester before some of us graduate, we were discussing our plans for after graduation, most of the class was mexican btw, most of the beaners said they were most likely going to college or university which is most likely untrue since everyone knows most mexicans end up at burger king or some shit, me, i said i have been saving money up for 6 months and that i plan to go to japan along with some friends for a month or so.... thats when i hear some of the guys bursting with laughter and one of them say "HURR DURR HURR LOL WHY DO YOU WANT TO GO JAPAN HOMES? YOU DONT EVEN KNOW CHINESE HURR" and then they started talking about how if they did go to japan, they would first go to a "Geisha Whore House" and even started saying the "CHING CHONG NIP DONG WONG " shit,

i kind of predicted that shit would happen, but since we were discussing this in the fucking career center, i was hoping they would be mature about it

This is why i never discuss anything about japan with no one that is not a weeaboo. everyone either does that CHING CHONG NIP WONG shit or somehow a conversation of how japs have the smallest penises.

Do you guys ever openly discuss your interests with japan with people?
