Reminder that R07 is a Christian author. He was slightly inspired by the works of Dostoevsky, Dante, Milton, Homer, and Virgil. He wrote the WTC series in response to increasing views of secularism, materialism, and nihilism in Japan. Umineko in particular is a commentary on the conflict between faith and doubt. Magic is an allegory for love of all forms, which is why we see so many variations of it. One example is the selfish, eros love that we see in the Ushiromiya family; this lead to their shared, unanimous delusions and inevitable downfall. That is not what R07 supports, and he utterly rejects it by showing the consequences of it. What he does support is agape love; one of abstract perceptions and genuine intentions. This love goes beyond the material and individual desires and extends to something more meaningful and valuable.

Many people in the 21st century more than ever only see things as they appear on the surface and believe all is material substances, nothing else. What I dislike most about this is that support of it has increased a lot because of the whole "wow science cool" stuff from reddit and American high schools (so I've heard, I'm not American). Scientists are seen as more important than philosophers by many. Really, they only have trivial knowledge, not fundamental in-depth understanding. It sickens me.
