work hours in general are ridiculous, but these are not actually work hours- it's mostly just office hours. meaning you pretend you do something because your senpai are still "working" too, and they do it because boss is still at the office. death circle. but things are changing slowly, especially i.t. and gamedev are ahead of the game- some of them are basically western culture companies with normal hours, or they pay extra for overtime. plus there are literally western companies with japanese branches.

I work at gamedev, so my experience is not going to help in your case. just get work visa with any job- if you can do that there always opportunities. getting vise is the most difficult part. just make sure you don't change jobs too often, some companies still are very suspicious about it, I had hard time explaining my situation for example. that being said I think you cannot move to japan at the moment because of covid. I heard in the news they will be opening for workers and students in couple months, but I am not sure- check yourself.
