Mio album listen-along + Realsound interview, 08-12-2023
1/4

>Origin of singing
Mio has loved singing since she was a child but never imagined focusing on it until Non Stop Story where she realized the sheer number of fans and wanted to put on a better show and make originals for Miofa. She usually listens to J-pop, especially ones by Sheena Ringo and Utada Hikaru, and more recently Yuuri; songs with sad undertones, elegant songs, basically songs that strike at your heart are her general picks. Mio thinks expressing one's self through lyrics is essential, something she found difficult during the process of creating the album, which makes Mio respect the aforementioned artists even more for their fluency and prowess in expressing their experiences and feelings.

>Meaningful Lyrics
Mio places Sheena Ringo's ありあまる富 in a special place in heart. The opening line 「僕らが手にしている 富は見えないよ」 can be interpreted as "Wealth isn't just physical, there are a lot of invisible, wonderful things you possess around you. No one can take it away or destroy it either," Mio posits. What's Mio's invisible treasure? The people around her and her connection with with them. Mio thinks of herself as a self-reliant person, a lone wolf if you will, but realizes she can't live her entire life by herself and thinks Hololive is a warm, wonderful, supportive environment that envelops and encourages everyone, even people like her. She'd like to keep her friendship, even when she's become a grandma. Of hololive members she named Fubuki, Okayu, Korone, Ayame and Subaru as members she often talks with and relies on.

>Howling
Howling was born from the desire to show off her cool side, like Mizuki Nana. However, at the time songs that pushed the Vtubers' character were becoming popular so わんわん!わおーん was made and released together with Howling. In the end, the two contrasted too much it was hard to get to know Mio's nature from the two song which made Mio decide to have a solid, defined direction for her musical style when making this album.

>Night walk
Mio got the concept of the night-time album because most of her streams are at night and wolves are often out at night. Mio feels the aforementioned cool, stylish, and affectionate songs are more easily made with evening as an overarching theme. Mio says there's a lot of things that can happen at night like nights where she feels she didn't sing very well, nights where she wants to drive around town, etc. This album is meant to recreate those various nights from Mio's perspective, as unique as the night may actually be for each person.

Mio reveals when creating some of the album songs, there was a sort of in-house competition for which songs would make the cut. Mio would write out the general idea of song(s) she was aiming for and had people try creating one based on her pitch. Mio describes to being similar to seiyuu audition and work.

>夜光通信
Unveiled during Mio's 4th Anniversary, a song Miofa should all know pretty well by now. Mio really likes Horie Shouta's 永遠の銀, a song from Caligula 2, and wanted him to create a night-themed song with a similar "cornered" atmosphere and fairly high BPM. She wanted to go for a song with a kind of fleeting, sort of rock-esque feel. Though that signal may never reach her fans, Mio and her fans are still connected. The interview highlights the romantic feel of the message transcending time and space and tenderness from the line 「ふんわり 君を 抱きしめてあげるからね 泣かないで」, with Mio explaining it may have been Horie-san's way of inserting Mio's motherliness into the song. At one point, the album was almost named after this song.

>深く紺になる
This song and 夜明けのメロウ were both composed by Yunna Kisaragi, who also composed Shijousugi Adtruck during Bloom. She really liked both songs so Mio decided to request another song from him. This song was made somewhere around the middle, maybe latter half of the songs in the album. When Mio pitched the song, she wanted to convey an image of racing through a nighttime corridor with flashing lights spinning around, enjoying the night life but with a dash of melancholy to it. A viewer asks if it's like Wangan Midnight, but Mio didn't get the reference. Mio says this song should fit for those who enjoys night drives. Mio adds that she likes to walk around her neighborhood at night while listening to this song. She thinks it's a great song to listen to while commuting. Chat worries about Mio walking alone at night but she reassures people her neighborhood is well lit and safe. In the interview, Mio states it's a song that'll grow on you over time.
