I love how they used Yuttan as an example when it's quite evident by her recent actions (like choosing not to attend the Tokyo Dome concert or the Janken tournament) and the speed at which the resignation was handed in that the decision came entirely from her side, even baffling TGSK in the process.
It's even funnier when you consider that, before that, members like Tomochin and Sayaka had the same trick pulled on them by Shuukan Bunshun and they dodged the scandal masterfully without suffering any sort of backlash, proving that the rules this clueless idiot describes as draconian are actually as fluid as ever, if not non-existent.
And who are these "apologists" she's talking about? A figment of her immagination?
I'm all for these restrictions on relationships, if only to get the members to focus on their career without being sidetracked by outside influences (which is the actual reason such a rule is even in place, not the whole "purity" nonesense), but you gotta understand that every goddamn workplace has a self-imposed set of rules which workers should abide to.
In fact, the same argument could very well be made against enforcing certain dressing codes at certain offices. The only reason you don't see that very often is because it obviously doesn't make for a bleeding-heart tirade like this one does.
Between this and the KPop shill who used to rant about idols, I'm starting to think that one of the key requirements for becoming a columnist at JapanTimes is being a total blockhead with a knack for speaking out of your ass.
You don't start discussing idols on an unspecialized newspaper, for the same reason you don't go on on Fox News' website to read about videogames (if not for a cheap laugh).
