You should get into some hobbies and set yourself some goals if you want to be happier. You should try exercising and learning Japanese as the other anon said, that'll give you things to do and feel proud of (as well as staving off boredom and depression). If there's anything you want to do as a hobby (drawing, programming, writing, studying whatever you're interested in, etc.) you should work towards doing that as well - start off small and don't overwhelm yourself, but slowly increase how much time you spend on it until you're at a comfortable level.

Exercise will also generally make you feel pretty happy if you push yourself - after lifting I usually just lie around in a satiated stupor listening to music and browsing /jp/ for about an hour and generally feel pretty good the rest of the day. It's helped me quite a bit to be happy as a NEET, as it helps maintain a sensible sleep schedule and makes me feel comfortable with my body. I'm also starting to study Japanese again (I learned a bit ages ago in the past but want to get back into it) and that's making me happier too.

Don't see it doing any better than the other /a/ and /jp/ spinoff imageboards. However, there's no harm in trying it if you already have everything you need. Just expect an average of 5 users after the initial rush.
