We did get to see the club graduating and leaving one by one in the manga, also Satoko feeling like her life was going nowhere before deciding to hop on the Rika ship.

The "you can't go back to the past" stuff from after the club meeting was entirely skipped though, since Eua snatches her even before the meeting proper starts here. I think the manga so far has been doing a much better job at showing Satoko's suffering, in spite of missing that great scene, although at this point I have no idea how she will actually start going crazy and planning her "game".

Even in this chapter Eua talks about decisions creating infinite fragments and with her power Satoko being being able to choose her own future. So far, dragging Rika along hasn't come up at all.

I guess all the fragments that exist will turn out to be bad for Satoko and she will then decide to create a world with her own hands, but I'm not sure how that will be portrayed since so far Satoko hasn't been nearly as aggressive as her anime self and Eua here didn't even talk about the suicide part yet.

Not denying that, but Satoko not being herself anymore was an actual plot point (even if the anime staff didn't care about her at all and sucked at showing the transition). With Rei I just find it kind of odd that keeping her speech style around seems to have been the one point tying old Satoko to her child self (incidentally, her losing her speech style at the end of Sotsu seems to be used to show she wasn't herself... So is all of Satoko's existence contained within her Satoko-ese?)

Satoko's situation is meant to improve before she starts looping though, which is why there's the club reunion before she meets Eua.

>R: When it comes to how I write tragedies, I will try to explain, although I might be wrong so please forgive me. So to speak, "if it is only cold, it doesn't break" (寒さでけでは砕けない). I mean, in a desert, there is only sand, no rock right? That's because there is an extreme difference of temperature between day and night. So a rock in a desert begins to crack due to the heat during the day and some water infiltrates it. Then at night, it becomes really cold and that water freezes. If you repeat that process, the rock breaks down and becomes sand.

>R: So I applied that logic to Satoko. She is initially in the "cold" part with all that stuff in St Lucia. Then she warms up quite a bit when she is back to Hinamizawa with everyone else.

Still, yeah, the Shion stuff obviously can't play too much of a role. It might be brought up again, although the manga unlike the anime has outright pointed out how Satoko was just aimless before deciding on the St.Lucia thing.
