I'll try to make an explanation for non crypto-savvy people. Consider ETH or the Ethereum network to be the crypto equivalent of the Japanese onions sauce, the highest quality one, the one everyone wants to use with the true purpose and savor preserved - coming with an expensive price both in nominal value but also in how you have to use it. Then you have BNB/Binance coin, the cheap, more accessible chink copy cutting corners to maintain a low price, at the expense of security and taste. Both are basically considered as fuel for a lot of financial activities like trading, lending, borrowing and so on.

>be cook chef in Q3-Q4 2020
>see that meals/financial assets tied to Ethereum are rapidly gaining in value making cooks rich left and right due to the DeFi bubble
>FOMO kicks in
>buy Ethereum and start making/trading meals too
>FOMO kicks in for A LOT OF PEOPLE
>Ethereum rises from $500 to $2000 in a matter of months
>problem: onions sauce being used by a lot of people creates strain on the supply chain and decentralized farmers all around the globe have to keep up with the requests
>every operation realized on the chain comes with a small fee to reward ETH farmers all around the globe
>naturally, the fee that people have to pay to do anything on the network goes from $1 to $15, then $30, then $70, up until $200 or even $500 FOR EACH TRANSACTION
>poorfags are priced out
>alternatives are tomato sauce, barbecue sauce and are too different from what you want, difficult to adapt to
>Binance, a company that allows people to exchabge all kinds of sauces and food products decides to promote BNB, a literal copy of ETH that costs $13 each instead of $2000
>the difference here is that instead of having a lot of people with consumer grade onions sauce production facilities spread around the world you have 21 factories with enough processing power to distribute your onions sauce to everyone
>shits on the original purpose of blockchain onions sauce because it's centralized
