It kind of depends on what you're learning, frankly. It's true that digital has a lot of functions and perks that can be useful for organization, post-processing and so on, but all those extra functions can end up being detrimental if you start relying on them too early. Personally I'd advise starting out with traditional for a bit - if you ever feel like it's holding you back, the transition to digital doesn't take long.
Committing to pen and paper rather than pencil/eraser or ctrl+z can also build line confidence much faster, which will help out tremendously in the long run.

Most pros use digital because it has a lot of conveniences that help with streamlining a workflow once you're proficient with the basics. It's not really necessary for learning the fundamentals of drawing, and can end up being a crutch if beginners start relying on the computer for basic actions.
