Great post. I think most of Shiki's character can be summed up in DDM of wanting to be someone that is close to others even though he thinks of himself as a wolf going into a herd of sheep that is society. He knows death better than anyone and can turn into a killer at any moment yet he tries to stay true to what Aoko taught him. He loves his friends and family and wants to be with them no matter what. Even if he lives a short life he'll still treasure those moments and appreciate life as someone that knows how tragic it is.
