All depictions of this thing I've seen so far were outright ridiculous, so I don't really fear it. Bake-kujira the ZOMBIE WHALE is more of a threat.

At any rate, here's another fun critter, the Ushi-oni. Commonly depicted as an aquatic spider with an ox head, it is seen more or less as a wild beast and treated the same way. It may or may not be intelligent depending on the account, there are stories of one protecting a pool or agreeing to help farming if a part of the harvest is given to it in return (unless I'm confusing it for Ccoa)
