I guess it's just that sort of generic feeling most of the songs have that most people wish they had going on in the background of their lives.
But I feel a lot of songs are much more than ambient effect and can have a much greater effect on the mood and tone of the scene/game.

I guess VN music is a lot more memorable to me than anime soundtracks but I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.
