And I don't mean that the game has to hammer it in that you're a girl, it's just that very few games are actually written from the perspective of an actual character, instead of an empty hull.

In 99% of games, for both genders, the MC is an empty shell devoid of any personality, without any hobbies, passions or skills, whose daily interactions are strictly limited to 3-4 people, all of which disappear halfway through, with the exception of the one they chose to fuck.
No diversity of characters, no supporting cast that's not there just to be fucked, no engaging daily routine that reads like anything more than an excuse for a "route" to happen.

I know it sounds cliched, but I can't help but think that this is because the writers are shut-ins who are just writing by emulation of other works of similar quality.
Maybe they can't write a credible engaging daily life because they never experienced one, let alone a female one.

Can I ask for help here? Sorry if long post

I'm an IIDX noob currently playing 5's and 6's and there's one thing that's completely stopping me from progressing any further. For some reason, I can't read patterns that alternate single notes with chords, in any capacity whatsoever. I can do fast/complicated streams of single notes or multiple chords in a row, but as soon as there's a section that alternates them, I miss basically every note.

That's me actually trying, believe it or not. I should be able to pass an easy 5 like this, but as soon as I get to that end section it's like my brain starts trying to read the right and left sides of the chart as separate patterns, which just really fucks me up. Not sure if this is a consequence of playing piano or what, but it's extremely frustrating.

For reference, I can pass the 6 of FLOWER, which is objectively much harder with much more complex rhythms, because it doesn't do this thing I have a problem with.

Does anyone have any advice at all as to how I can stop being retarded? I just wanna git gud.

Online mahjong is on fucking speed, you have no time to actually form thoughts past really vague assumptions, and even by playing a thousand games you will learn nothing, because you can't read discards and make conclusions in the split second that passes between your discard and the other three.

The only thing I'm getting better at is tile efficiency, but my level of defensive reading is probably the same as when I started playing. All the strategies I've read about are not something I can apply with a scarce 3 seconds at my disposal.
