Here's my description of the ordinal "rankings" of Touhou fans. Feel free to disagree. I've based this off of empirical evidence from years of observation of /jp/ and other Touhou fan groups.

Primary: Plays official Touhou games and/or reads official Touhou works. Knows quite a lot of Touhou lore. A 1cc is not necessary to be considered a primary, but it gives them bragging rights for sure. They can interact with doujin content if desired without loss of "primary" status.
Secondary: Mostly knows Touhou through doujin content, fan games and other fan works. They may rarely play official Touhou games or drop them because they are "boring" or "too hard". They may have a bit of working knowledge of Touhou canon, but most is probably supplanted by fanon or other speculative theories.
Tertiary: Watched several Touhou MMDs or faps to some Touhou ero doujins, possibly even both. Likely knows not more than a few characters, even then likely only from Booru tags or Youtube comments. It is doubtful whether they even know about ZUN and the official games, let alone official Touhou lore. They likely just want to fap/read their doujins in peace. Note that any Touhou non-ero doujins they may read would be heavily divorced from Touhou canon.
Quaternary: This is a level very divorced from the fanbase, they cannot really be considered much of a Touhou "fan" at this point. They may know Touhou from Walfas, Bad Apple or possibly another spinoff, especially one that is western in origin. If they know any from either of those media, they could very well think of the Touhou girls as built-in "Walfas characters" or "Bad Apple characters", failing to realize that they are consuming spin offs/derivitive works.
Quinary: This is the furthest thing I'd consider a """""fan""""" by this ordinal ranking system. At this point, essentially they are consuming a spinoff of a spinoff of a spinoff. The only example that comes to mind is the whole MAGA crowd and their love for "MAGA awoo girl", aka a Momiji gyate wearing a Trump hat. Hell, this term is essentially meaningless, but it goes to show the pervasiveness of Touhou fan content on the internet.
