そんなとき、AKB48の被災地訪問ライブが近くで行われることになりました。AKB48は「知ってる」っていう程度だったんですけど、せっかくだから、部活が終わってから幼なじみと一緒に見に行きました。
During that time, I went to a nearby AKB48 Disaster Area Visit live performance. I know about AKB48 only to a certain degree, because they came all the way down here, I went to see them after the club activities has ended with my childhood friend.

そこで、お客さんがみんな笑顔でステージに手を振っているのを見て、「すごいな」って思ったんです。私も、震災と引っ越しですごくダメージを受けてたんですけど、このライブを見ている間は、すごく楽しかったんです。このときに、「みんなの前で歌って踊るのって、いいな」って思いました。それで、チーム8のオーディションを受けたんです。
There, while looking at the audience with a smile on their faces waving their hands to the stage, I thought to myself that it’s amazing. I received a lot of damages because of the earthquake and had to move, but I had lots of fun watching their performance. “It’s great being able to sing and dance in front of everyone”. With that in mind I took the audition for Team 8
　
被災地訪問で、あの日以来の母校に
During the Disaster Area Visit, it was my first time going to my alma mater since that day

震災があってから、自分が強くなったと思います。友だちと離れ離れになるのはつらかったけど、これを乗り越えなきゃいけないと思ってがんばりました。あの時期を乗り越えられたことで、心が強くなったと思います。
I think that I’m stronger after the earthquake. Even though I was separated from all my friends, I must overcome this, I did my best with that in mind. My heart is stronger after overcoming that period of my life.

AKB48のメンバーとして、被災地訪問にも何度か連れて行っていただきました。震災前に私が通っていた中学校は、いまは「ふたば未来学園高等学校」の校舎として使われています。私は、被災地訪問で、地震のあった日以来はじめて母校に足を踏み入れました。バレー部の練習をしていた体育館が、支援物資の倉庫になっているのを見て、悲しくて泣いてしまいました。
I have visited several disaster areas as a member of AKB48. The Middle School that I went to before the earthquake has turned into “Futaba Future High School”. I visited my alma mater for the first time since the earthquake hit during the Disaster Area Visit. I cried because I was sad seeing the gym that we used for Volleyball practice is now used as a warehouse for emergency supplies.

ライブには、昔の同級生も来てくれました。私がステージに上がったとき、みんな泣きながら「かすみー！」って声援を送ってくれました。転校して落ち込んでいたころ、AKB48の被災地訪問を見て勇気づけられた私が、いまこうして被災地で歌って踊れていると思うと、本当にすごいことだなって思いました。
A lot of my old classmates came to see the live performance. When I went up to the stage, everyone screamed “Kasumi!” whilst crying and cheering me on. I think that it’s amazing when I think about when I was depressed because I moved schools and received energy from watching AKB48’s Disaster Area Visit is now able to sing and dance in the affected areas like this.

私の将来の夢は、モデルになることです。自分を強く持って、ストイックにがんばり、夢をつかみたいです。
My dream is to become a Model. With a strong self while stoically doing my best, I want to grab that dream.
