Yeah they normally have floppy ears too. It was a thing they'd do in military roles and such, remove the tail so that bad guys can't grab it and they made the ears pointy so they could allegedly hear better. People who had them as pets would get those surgeries done unnecessarily to them because it was part of the "look", but I think a lot of places its not legal.
