Oh, yeah good point actually but j-pop thrives in Japan that goes without saying. If tomorrow they dropped the whole Babymetal thing altogether and rebranded them as a straightforward idol group, I'm sure they'd retain something like 75%-99% of their domestic fanbase.

But also consider how Babymetal opened up Western metalheads & other music nerds to j-pop, if Suzuka Nakamoto released an album full of nothing but acoustic guitar sugary goodness I'm sure it'd be very popular regardless. Not as popular as babymetal in the west obviously but I think it would take off here still.
