One thing I forgot to mention. Watanagashi is when people from different fragments (or maybe eras?) can be united to watch their collective story. If it's a shitty story that gives them bad outcomes, they will get pissed off and fight or disappear. The logic error or attempts to resolve the logic error through trial and error births these fragment worlds and the unraveling on Watanagashi. If the different eras idea is correct and Higurashi takes place in the same world as other WTC properties, it could be theoretically possible to have celebrity guest appearances at Watanagashi. Even though Keiichi is separated from his family in Tokyo/another fragment, they can reunite at Watanagashi. That begs the question though. Why can't they grab alternate fragment versions of Satoko and Rika's parents? That's a whole other topic of debate altogether, but brings Oyashiro-sama's Curse into focus. With the curse, one person dies and one person disappears. Instead of ridiculous perverted notions that have no love, what if it's related to people from other fragments who want to be with their families sticking around after Watanagashi? The world might collapse if someone who isn't supposed to be there is, so they have to take someone's place. IF THAT'S THE CASE, all of the diabolical acts that happened after Watanagashi in Gou and Sotsu are simply collapses related to people trying to stick around in fragments where they shouldn't exist. That's also why there's identity confusion with several characters including Keiichi, Satoshi, Rika, and Satoko. These really are other people taking the places of their friends and acting out their roles. Perhaps acting out old grudges and having conflicts stemming from the times when everyone was together. Plus if everyone was separated to begin with, certain other diabolical acts hinted at in Gou and Sotsu become impossible by nature of separation. It's like Sayo imagining Battler while he's away or George's reaction to her confession. If it happens before Watanagashi, it's likely the imagination of whoever lives in that fragment. If it happens after Watanagashi, it's an unraveling of that fragment. Then the only interactions between the cast that really matter are those that happen on Watanagashi. Maybe looping isn't really any horrible thing like people theorized, but rather a child born of parents split between fragments trying to find their way home. Therefore we can conjecture that Satoko and Rika are trying to find their way home, but their parents are quite literally star-crossed lovers. Anything they do in loops can't logically happen and therefore they can't be held accountable for what they didn't do. The existence of Polaris could be a result of trying to force accountability on loopers. Logically speaking, it really is just a decisionmaking and soul-searching process for those trying to find the world with their family. This also allows us to more or less logically remove the "Hinamizawa Catbox" and the implications therein. It's not a twisted catbox of human sacrifice. It's a huge world that's trying to sort itself out. Using this as a basis, most of the loveless interpretation that we've seen here lately can be safely removed without hurting anyone besides the theorycrafters online.
