That's precisely how it ought to be. Wittgenstein, for example, loved Brothers Karamazov for the majority of his life. The great stories stay with you because of their universal excellence; nobody reads old books, or appreciates ideas with immediate, small wisdoms when they could pursue those with universality, which, while tantalizing to take as mere latitudinal/spatial majesty, kind of necessarily implies longitudinal/temporal universality too. That—the intimate relationship between time and space—is why brilliant stories are also timeless stories.
