>Miotsukushi-hen, the culmination of the console arcs, was supposed to replace Matsuribayashi but Ryukishi ignored it completely during Gou.
Exactly. So why should I acknowledge Gou/Sotsu either when he's just going to go back and change it again. I'll just sit back and enjoy the original ending while ignoring the stream of noncommital retcons atop retcons that come later.
>have you seen Higurashi fanart? Even in 2022 it's still mostly Gou/Sotsu stuff
Call me when Gou/Sotsu has hundreds of doujinshi inspired by it.

This is true and I hate it. Satoko wasn't popular, so Ryukishi turned her into an edgy flanderization of her former self and now everyone eats it up. It's the same shit as DEEN with the original Higurashi anime. People don't care about good character writing or meaningful plotlines. They just want dramatic violence to get their brain juices pumping before ditching the series in half a year for the next seasonal garbage. The new Satoko is nothing but a cancer upon the original

There's actually more than you'd expect from a series like this. Higurashi has about 200 different doujinshi on sadpanda, while Umineko's got about 70. Both series have a number of unscanned works, as well as many, MANY non-h doujinshi. Higurashi in particular has entire anthologies of non-h doujinshi that, when added up, surpass the official manga in total length.
Pretty impressive for a decade old indie game.
