Actually in one interview Julia herself said she dislike her appearance in her early years, especially the one with thin eyebrows.
I personally don't see much difference than said eyebrows and the makeup, which in the past make her looked serious like Shiina Yuna. And that doesn't fit Julia's real personality which is a playful clumsy one so I can understand why she never like her early image,
