Sake doesn't smell like ethanol. It smells a little like vinegar. Let me go pour myself some to get a better description. Okay, it's kind of sour-smelling too. But at the same time a little sweet. Which is actually a little what sake tastes like, at least this extra-dry one. Ok I just sniffed a bit of my sweet sake, it's understandably kinda sweet smelling. It's almost like a very faint fruit juice type aroma.

The closest thing that smells like ethanol is unflavored vodka. Which makes sense since that's pretty much just ethanol and water. Ethanol almost smells like ... the cloest I can think of is some kind of window spray or nail polish, but not as nearly strongly ammonia-y.

Although, all alcoholic drinks give off a bit of that whiff, it's just not *nearly* as pronounced and strong as pure ethanol. Which Suika would be stupid to drink, since that stuff's denatured and toxic for you.. however being an Oni that's been drunk for centuries straight, I think she kind of won't be affected. She better be ok that is, because I fucking love Suika.
