Do it. Completely changed EoSD for me.

I was working on EoSD Extra for fucking months, installed the vpatch and got it on the second attempt while capturing Maze of Love by staying on the bottom and micrododging, which was simply impossible before.

I wouldn't consider it cheating, either, unlike the lack of a hitbox I'm sure the input lag isn't a feature.
