I found out about TMCM through Babymetal and I love them, they remind me of Atari Teenage Riot.

Babymetal is just an excellent way to discover new music. One of their main producers, Yuyoyuppe, was already famous for doing Vocaloid metal.

Not really, no. Of course the girls matter, without them or with them replaced by some angry guy with neck tattoos and those stretched-ear piercing things, it would just be another regular & stagnant metal band.

The fact that the girls bring in that kawaii pop element and the fact that they're now an actual band is what ties it all together. If it was too much of either way it just wouldn't work.

That has only been going on in recent years - same with Babymetal they didn't start singing fully live until a year ago and even that can be attributed to them trying to be a real metal group and Koba wanting to distance them from the idol world.
