Are you saying we can predict the future? The reason bacteria can survive even "at the mercy of nature" is because they are so hardcore and are life made manifest. They can adapt and reproduce so quickly it doesn't matter where they are. There is bacteria riding on comets en route to destroy a planet, there is bacteria on the planet, and there is bacteria on the large planet chunks turned comets flying towards another place to destroy. You just can't get rid of them and that's what makes them very successful.

Can humans share the same success? Not in the slightest. One comet too big for our nuclear laser cannons and we're all dead when our planet explodes. I won't deny that there are species far weaker than us and it shows how when we clearly dominate them, but that's only on our planet.

We always imagine aliens to be like us, that they fly in space ships and have some kind of silly corporeal form and they have guns more advanced than ours, but that's a silly assumption to make. They could very well be space faring invisible bacteria that is immensely powerful and adaptive that we get wiped out in a matter of hours before we even get a chance to react, nevermind see.
