Although this reminds me of how one of Mei's stories (the Halloween 2022 one) really felt like it was written to spit on Rei. It basically had Satoko worried people would speak badly about two grown girls being always together and how she should distance herself from Rika and eventually marry into a "normal" family like would be expected from a girl. Even if that's not really what she wants, she'd keep on smiling the rest of her life just to avoid causing problems for everyone else.
