man, the 'mu redemption arc in the HSE was a fucking treat. Never thought I'd see something like that after the ogHanaFic and ogAbuseFic

Chen was gone for some time. I went first to Anon, and she wasn't there. I looked and looked around, fear growing like a worry seed. She was nowhere in the HSE, and despite my growing panic, I paused and tried to think where she might've been—I remembered the bakeneko furiously knitting a scarf of red and white these last days, eyes wide and focused like nothing I'd ever seen her do before.

Within a moment, I was at the Hakurei Shrine, ready to scream Chen's name—

Then my ears heard a soft, whispered lullaby.

One I've heard before.

With my arms conjoined and eyes curious, I walked around the shrine, getting to the back, and—there they are…

Walking around the veranda with slow, rhythmical movements, the golden, orange, and red of the sunset reflecting on the pond’s surface and bathing them in a beautiful hue, Reimu swung Chen up and down, the sleeping bakeneko's face a bit red and with visible residual tears, clinging to the woman for dear life—Reimu, however, was the most peaceful I've ever seen her, wearing that scarf Chen was knitting and whispering the lullaby…

… The same one Anon sang to Chen the first time we three met, and Chen made a promise.

I smiled, feeling warm inside and, using a gap, left silently.
