LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT. Idol threads are NOT /jp/.

/jp/ Otaku Culture is not the same thing as otaku culture as it is known in the Akiba sense. The argument for this is twofold:

- /jp/ otaku are mostly unemployed. People on /jp/ use torrent, usenet and other non-legit ways of obtaining their entertainment. Having a job, or even suggesting another to get a job even to buy expensive goods is looked down upon in /jp/. Real otaku in Japan on the other hand, are usually employed and spend hundreds of thousands of yen on anime goods, monthly. Just like we have a few exceptions on /jp/, those with large condos and an extensive collection of figures, there are exceptions within the Japanese otaku culture known as NEET. They are NOT the norm, otherwise the anime industry would not exist in Japan.

- A word can have a different meanings in the East and West. The prime example is the term NEET. NEET in the Japanese sense just means not in education, employment, or training. You can have a "normal" life, and even relationships and still be a NEET. In the West, specifically on 4chan, NEET and hikikomori are one and the same-- they fulfill the conditions of a Japanese NEET, but take it a step further by disliking all things 3D, sees themselves independent of the 社会, and prides themselves on being unemployed.

Since this is 4chan, and we dislike 3D, idol threads, seiyuu threads, and other shit like that absolutely do not belong on /jp/.

Now please get out.
