you really need to throw away what you know about english and just build up terms like 上 as new concepts in your head unrelated to shit like "up" or "above"

it's not a word with different meanings like "bat" can mean the animal or a baseball bat, it's a single concept with lots of applications, like the verb "to take" someone posted in the last thread

same goes for も actually
