This whole late discussion is pointless to me, as
I see idols as a japanese-only product. Just like anime/manga/VN and the entire kawaisa culture, they are a consequence of a very specific development of Japan through its modern to postmodern history (i.e. after WWII). I wouldn't take idol imitations from anywhere else, disregard de host country's index of human development. It's not even a matter of japanese nationalism (I'm not CWO) but a Designation of Origin of sorts.

yuihan's photobook would have been way better if they had discarded all the trashy gravure and included more of these in their place
