Besides gesture drawing, is it a good idea to try and copy the drawings of artists you like? Not trace, but look at it as a reference and try to break it down, then build up as similar a form as possible, while focusing on what you like from the artist. Line work, shading, colors or anatomy etc. Ive heard mixed answers on this.
