I agree that production-value wise it's one of the better games in that time. For that matter perhaps you can say it's one of the better games in the early 00s. I just don't like how despite starting off well, they basically stopped doing anything else and stuck with remaking, milking and obligatory saber clone in every other spin off since.

Also just finished メルクリア. Was pretty decent although...
<s> I can't help but be bothered by the fact that there's a 17 year age difference between the protagonist and the heroine as a result of the ending, felt a bit bittersweet in that sense in an otherwise happy ending. Oh well, not like anime characters can into aging </s>

Spoilers aside, more fantasy based stories need to learn to expand their world like this one instead of just telling us "this world has monsters and magic therefore anything goes". Does anyone have recommendations for stories with good world building?
