It's an RPG, like final fantasy. It's difficult; don't neglect any party members and be choosy about what items you craft. There's also a drop/learn rate patch somewhere out there that you should definitely use.

/jp/ has discussed this game before, a rather long, difficult touhou rpg, translated. Awhile ago it received some updates that greatly improved stability and performance, the game was rather crashy with the English patch before these patches, so it's worth updating.

The whole game prepatched with the translation and game manual (5 parts)

After updating to 2.09 the game task bar will still read 2.08 for some reason.

You start with Aya, Reimu, Marisa, and Sanae. You can get Mokou and Byakuren immediately with a few tricks, and Sakuya, Nitori, and Patchouli join up after the first (read: short) dungeon.

SA wise you get Satori, who's a blue mage, after the third dungeon, and can recruit Yuugi much, MUCH latter. Post-game latter.

She's trying to figure out how to pay the bills and make ends meet, when all of a sudden you break into and loot her house, beat up her strongest pets and kill many, many more, beat the shit out of her herself, and drag her along to a world full of racist, hateful fucks so you can stick her in front of vicious monsters and hope they use their strongest attacks on her.
So yes, suffering.

The scene's before and after Satori's boss fight made me feel absolutely terrible for beating her up. She wasn't even hard; it's like she was just panicking and flailing at my party as they laid into her.
