I kind of agree. Even before the permanent dozen or so empty slots on the board thing happened, there really wasn't much outside of Denpa threads and the aforementioned train threads. But I never really saw and still don't see a problem with a lack of true deep discussion about any given topic either. At least, so long as anons are having fun and aren't breaking into other threads or the catalog to cause trouble. Even the aforementioned AI threads are relatively fine compared to the week 1 ones filled with people searching the entire website to scream about how everyone whose ever picked up a pen should neck themselves before the new god that is whatever the new program is now, as much as I don't really like the topic being a shitty one of those pen-pushers myself.
