It would increase the size substantially too. Imagine each character having 150 images for each clothing option. Unless someone dedicated rewrites the portrait system I don't see it happening.
Besides, I imagine the only way to save space would be splitting bodies and heads, pasting X girl's head onto Y's clothes/body image, at most edited with X's boob size and accounting for the wings, tails, Kasen's arm etc. So it would suck to see 2 2hus in the same clothes standing in the exact same position, you know what I mean?
