The trolls are more likely to bump than the non-trolls. Saging is just a common courtesy on 2channel and other textboards for several reason. The primary reason why sage is used is that it hides the poster's IP address. Another reason why people sage is because they feel that they're not making a meaningful enough contribution to the thread to bump it to the top of the page - on smaller textboards, you'll get a lot of shit for not saging to make a zero content post. Another valid use is that you don't think the thread itself is worth bumping to the top of the page. I occasionally use it when I think I'm replying to a tangent rather than the thread's topic.
