Caring for an injured, hungover, feverish Shrine Maiden was turning out to be quite the task. It had only been minutes since Reimu had passed out, but it felt like hours. I wasn't sure what to do, because I'd never really had to care for someone like this before, let alone someone like Reimu. She was still shivering, despite the sheets being tucked up around her, so I decided to scour the rest of the place for any warmer things I could find. This didn't amount to very much, but I did find a second futon, so I placed the sheets on top of the first set. Then, I went and looked through all the clothing I could find, which only really yielded a scarf, some slightly thicker vests, and curiously, a whole kimono that was about as big as Reimu's head. I had no idea what that was for, but I carefully placed it beside her regardless.

Once I'd deemed her sufficiently buried underneath every warm thing I could find, I tried to figure out what I was meant to do next. I was probably supposed to make warm food. Was I supposed to run a bath? I didn't know if the Shrine even had a bath. I could probably have gone to look for it, but I felt like I shouldn't leave Reimu alone. I found myself sitting right beside her, staring intently at her face. She didn't look good. Even asleep, her brow was furrowed like she was in pain. I hadn't even pulled her bow off, or her shoes. I'd managed to slip mine off when I'd stepped in the room, but I'd been so worried about the shivering that I'd let her clothing completely slip my mind. Trying not to think about how weird this would look if someone walked in, I shuffled around to the end of the covers and pulled off Reimu's shoes and socks. I dumped the shoes at the door and rolled up the socks before placing them inside one of the shoes. I then set about trying to remove Reimu's bow. I'd seen Yamame pull her hers off earlier, so I started by trying to pull one of the ends. This only seemed to tangle it further, and I quickly stopped out of fear of hurting her. Carefully, I began to pull her hair free of the bow itself, so that the next time I tried, it came loose from her ponytail, which I also pulled free. I slid her hair tubes free and brushed her hair out of her face. I was quite surprised to see that without all of the headwear, Reimu looked...normal. Just like any other girl I'd seen in the village. Not like the scary Hakurei Shrine Maiden.

I was still turning over her last words in my mind. What promise? To whom? To keep me safe from what? Doctor Yagokoro? I had thought I was confused before, but now I felt more lost than ever. Reimu hadn't been to the dojo for several days before I had ventured to the Shrine. Could something have happened in that time? I couldn't remember any sort of promise. I was burning with questions, but Reimu was unconscious, and I doubted she'd be much help once she was awake. I couldn't leave her, not after she had said that.

I ended up sitting by Reimu for a long time. I got up and paced the room, poked my head out of the door to find no one, and fetched some water from the nearby well. I wasn't sure if I was meant to wake her up in order to keep her from getting dehydrated, or if I was supposed to wait. I felt a bit useless, really. Reimu was starting to look a bit flushed, like she had swung around to being too hot. I then began pulling the covers back off, worried that I was going to make her overheat. I fretted over whether or not I needed to pull more of her clothing off, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I wasn't that perverted. I did pull off her sleeves, and once I'd confirmed that she was wearing a thinner vest under the red one, I pulled that off too. I elected not to touch the skirt. If someone walked in and saw me pulling that off, I'd be dead in seconds, peach, or no peach.
