It can be argued that Hell is a state of unenlightenment or rejection of your "destiny" and thus your soul suffers a feeling of emptiness and unfulfillment until you realize the true path. I prefer that over a "sea of fire damnation and torment where satan's devils poke you in the asshole for eternity".

This however isn't enough to convince me to follow a particular religion. It's just a means to open your mind to spirituality.
