Well thanks, I appreciate your completely unnecessary pointing out of my minor mistake.

There is going to be pacing differences anytime you're adapting media--especially a text heavy novel into 26 episode anime--but Umineko's pacing is nearly anime-breaking. A good adaptation doesn't feel like one even from someone who hasn't read the source--at least as much as possible. Even if I hadn't read the novel, I don't think I'd like the anime much. It feels more like cliffnotes. They're giving you the important pieces, but because they take out some of the less important pieces the important pieces don't have as much, or the same type of an impact as they should. It's almost like it's being made with the expectation the audience has already read it. Combine that with flat-out bad directing at times, and you have an anime that's just above average at best. That's my opinion based on the first two arcs at least.

It should be a little longer. 26 episodes isn't enough. There is no reason for Deen to rush it. They won't even be adapting Chiru for two years. Might as well make the first four arcs as good as possible until then. It's not like they have anything better to do--well except for maybe the UBW film.

I think it has nice art direction. I mean it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's very crisp and fits the mood. The reaction faces aren't bad either. However, it may be a little inconsistent.
